Privacy Policy
HajjMate (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides a mobile companion for Hajj and Umrah. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using HajjMate or this website, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use HajjMate, we may collect:
- Account details — name, email, and identifiers when you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Profile information — age, date of birth, gender, nationality, and home city, used to personalise guidance (for example, gender-aware Ihram tips).
- Location data — with your permission, to power Qibla, prayer times, geofenced Tawaf/Sa’i counters, nearby services, and location-based reminders.
- Journey data — Hajj/Umrah dates, ritual progress, checklists, favourite duas, and saved places.
- Usage & device data — app interactions, crash reports, and approximate device information to improve stability and features.
- AI chat content — questions and conversation context you send to the in-app assistant, retained as described below.
- Website data — basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) when you visit hajjmate.app.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and operate the app’s core features (prayer times, counters, roadmap, services, AI assistant).
- Personalise content and language preferences (English / বাংলা).
- Send important alerts you opt into (for example, traffic or ritual reminders).
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- Understand aggregated usage patterns to improve HajjMate.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Location
Precise location is optional but required for features such as Qibla, geofenced counters, and nearby services. You can revoke location permission in your device settings; some features will then be limited or unavailable. Background location, if enabled, is used only for features that need it (such as arrival or zone alerts) and is described in-app when we ask.
4. AI assistant
When you use the AI assistant, your prompts and relevant journey context may be processed by our systems and third-party language-model providers to generate responses. We aim to ground answers in trusted sources, but AI output is not a substitute for qualified scholarly or legal advice. Conversation history may be stored for a limited period (for example, up to 30 days) to support the feature, then deleted or anonymised according to our retention practices.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Service providers who help us host, authenticate, analyse, or deliver the app (under contractual confidentiality and security obligations).
- Sign-in providers (Google / Apple) as needed to authenticate your account.
- Authorities when required by law or to protect users and the service.
6. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including providing your account and journey history, unless a longer period is required by law. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data as described below.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please protect your device and sign-in credentials.
8. Your choices & rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can often manage profile details and permissions in the app or device settings. To exercise privacy rights or ask questions, contact us using the details below.
9. Children
HajjMate is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe we have collected data from a child inappropriately, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. International transfers
We may process data in countries other than where you live. Where we do, we take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of HajjMate after changes means you accept the updated policy.
